Hi COBirders,
This morning (May 5) worked out for an early morning arrival at Chico Basin. A slow day as reported by others. However there were great views of a barn owl flying between cottonwoods at HeadQuarters pond area, a few warlers including the first Wilson’s warbler I’d seen this spring, also yellow and Common Yellowthroat. Then just as I was leaving to go up to the banding area a Summer Tanager flew into the elm I was looking at – still at Headquarters pond. It was hunting miller moths and worked its way between willows and up and down the row of shrubs/cottonwoods alongside the NE side of the lake. Hoping for a few more species tomorrow.
Good Birding
