[cobirds] Boulder County highlights 5/6/12, Chestnut-sided Warbler, etc.

Good morning,

This morning, Peter Gent discovered a singing male CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER at the north end of Goose Creek, just a bit south of the Confluence Ponds/Boulder Creek at the CU East Campus.

Early this morning at Twin Lakes, there was a singing EASTERN PHOEBE and a singing NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. The Phoebe was right at the start of the trail off Twin Lakes Rd. The waterthrush was in the cattail marsh at the NE corner of the east lake.

Walden/Sawhill ponds were very productive. A GREEN HERON is back, plus lots of other breeders that have been posted here recently like BULLOCK'S ORIOLES, WARBLING VIREOS, EASTERN KINGBIRD, etc.

There were more people than birds at Gregory Canyon. A DUSKY FLYCATCHER was uttering its characteristic liquid 'whit' call.

At Baseline Reservoir, there was a single BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and a single male HOODED MERGANSER.

Great birding,
