After contacting Duane Nelson, we decided to head out to Bent County today, to see the Snowy Owl. The Owl was found on Clayton Point. We were rewarded with wonderful views of this beautiful rarity. We watched her fend off a Northern Harrier, completely ignore an scolding Rock Wren and held our breath as she actually flew in our direction for a drink of water! Best of all, we had her all to ourselves. For over an hour we watched and never saw another person or vehicle. We hope she survives to find her way home.
On the way home was stopped at Blue Lake and found a pair of Mountain Plovers...a great way to end our day!

Great Horned Owls...accidentally spooked them off their daytime roosting spot on the rock wall of John Martin while settling down for picnic!

Green-tailed Towhee
White-crowned Sparrow
Ring-billed Gulls
Great Blue Heron
American Crow
Common Ravens
Townsend Solitaire

Canada Geese
