Breaking news!
The story about researchers at Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory using Geolocators to learn the wintering grounds of Colorado's Black Swifts will air on Colorado Public Radio's Colorado Matters on **MONDAY, March 19th** during the 7pm Mountain Time broadcast. You can also listen live by streaming online. Go to www.cpr.org and click "play" on the media player at the top of the page. Or, you can hear the archived story after the morning broadcast: go to www.cpr.org and search for "Jason Beason." The story should come up as a piece on the program Colorado Matters.
In the Denver/Boulder area you can hear the show at 90.1 FM; for other parts of the state, check this website to for a CPR signal: www.cpr.org/#load_article|legacy-cpr-35.
The story is well done and in addition to being able to hear some audio of Black Swifts twittering calls (or is that tweeting calls?),
Jason Beason gave a detailed, cogent interview. In it he pays tribute to the late Rich Levad, who was a pioneer in Black Swift research and a mentor for Jason and Kim Potter, another author of the
article that appeared recently in the Wilson Journal of Ornithology.
I heard the interview during the 10 AM broadcast on CPR and it aired at about 10:19. So I'd suggest listening to Colorado Matters
at 7:00 PM tonight , but if you are very time pressured, you might risk missing it by tuning in at 7:19 PM, when I estimate it will hit the airwaves again.
Thanks,
Joe Roller, Denver
