[cobirds] Service for Suzi Plooster Mar. 24th, 11AM First Pres in Boulder

Colorado birding has lost an enthusiastic voice this past week when
Suzi Plooster passed away after an illness in Costa Rica where she was
on a birding tour. She was a frequent contributor to this forum. She
and her late husband, Myron, were instrumental in the Boulder Bird
Club and supported the DFO, CFO, and Audubon Societies. Just last year
Suzi was honored by the Colorado Field Ornithologists for Lifetime
Achievement in promoting birding in Colorado. That meant so much to
her and she was very grateful for the recognition. She was passionate
about her love of nature and had just written a beautiful piece to run
in the Boulder Bird Club newsletter about regaining that sense of
wonder for all birds - even though they may already be on your list.
She always took particular care with beginner birders that would
attend our walks, making sure they could use their binoculars and
acquire the birds in the view, then teaching them simple ways to
identify them in the future. The Ploosters were consummate hosts,
having countless birders over to their home for potlucks and parties
over the years. She made sure everyone felt welcome and included, and
in doing so grew the Boulder Bird Club into the vibrant group it is
today. I will leave you to your personal memories of Suzi Plooster.

Lonny Frye
