[cobirds] Chatfield Banding Station Report, 4/29 - 5/2

Hi COBirders,

We have yet to begin experiencing real migration – only a few birds each day this week:

4/29 – 4 birds (2 new Black-capped Chickadees, plus one banded 4/30/1, and 1 Hermit Thrush)

4/30 – 8 birds (2 House Wrens, 1 Common Yellowthroat, 1 Spotted Towhee, 1 Redwing Blackbird, 1 Brown-headed Cowbird, 2 House Finches)

5/1 – 2 birds (1 House Wren, 1 Yellow Warbler.  The Yellow is FOS, about 4-5 days earlier than usual.)

5/2 -   11 birds (2 House Wrens, 1 Robin, 2 new Redwing Blackbirds and 1 banded 4/30/11, 1 Brown-headed Cowbird, 3 new House Finches and 1 banded 5/11/09)

(The RWBLs and HOFIs were caught at the feeder nets at the Nature Center.)

Hoping migration starts soon……last year migrant numbers started to go up on 5/1, so it is time!
