The Eastern Bluebirds that I found nesting in a tree on my friend's farm near Canon City successfully fledged 4-5 young. I have added photos and a video clip of the nestlings being fed and waiting impatiently to be fed plus a short clip of one of the fledglings within a few hours out of the nest onto my Birds and Nature blog. In one of the videos a parent can be heard as it called to the nestlings urging them to fledge (I observed this beginning 2 days before they fledged).
In the past few days I have seen first of the year Western and Cassin's Kingbirds and a male Bullock's Oriole in the Canon City area
Yesterday I came upon a pair of Canyon Towhees in the Canon City area and discovered they had fledglings.
I continue to watch the Lewis's Woodpeckers that are nesting only a few hundred feet from where the Eastern Bluebirds nested. The female is clearly sitting on eggs so stays in the nest hole a lot. She does call for her mate when she wants to take a break and he apparently comes to stand guard though does not enter nest.
Busy time with nesting as Black Phoebes also sitting on eggs.
