Hi COBirders,
Chico Basin Ranch Banding Report for Friday 5/4/2012
Yesterday we had a big arrival. Today was the big exit. A few warblers caught, a few sparrows, and it was pretty dead after 9am, with a hot-dry wind building. Temperature at noon was 86o. On the bright side, the male Black-and-White Warbler was heard several times, and later re-caught; it had gained 10% in body mass overnight. The Worm-eating Warbler was re-caught AGAIN in the same wetter area, and it is finally putting on some weight as well. The male Golden-winged Warbler was seen and heard by many and performed for school groups at the banding station, as late as noon.
Also seen and heard at the banding station/Holmes Grove (El Paso Co), Tennessee Warbler, singing, N Parula, Orange-crowned Warbler.
Gene Rutherford reported few birds at the HQ (Pueblo Co), but he did have a Palm Warbler at Rose Pond. Also reportedly it was dead at the Casita (El Paso Co).
