Greetings All,
So, on Sunday, Tim Smart and I faced the winds in futility, finding nothing until we'd reached Kinny SWA in Lincoln County s. of the metropolis of Hugo (thanks Mark Peterson for the suggestion). By then, the winds had subsided to a mild 12 mph or so. I wandered off to "see a man about a horse" and stumbled into this Eastern x Western Kingbird hybrid -- or presumed, as ID can't be fully proven, but the evidence is rather supportive. For photos and discussion go to:
We also had a rather late Lincoln's Sparrow and a late, and out-of-habitat Yellow-billed Cuckoo... not to mention Lincoln County's first Variable Dancer (a delightful damselfly, not an exotic human).
Other highlights on the day included another Lincoln's Sparrow at Hugo SWA and a Pectoral Sandpiper at Flagler SWA (Kit Carson County)
Good Birding
