I read Ted Floyd's post about singing Brewer's Sparrows in Boulder with interest (thanks for posting your sighting Ted). There were two individuals singing at Chatfield last Thursday morning. One along the Plum Creek Nature Area road (road leading to often flooded parking lot) just past the first speed limit sign. The second bird was just north of the Lake View parking lot (drive down the road past the campground registration building to the parking lot at the end.
This is the first time I've recorded this species on my June breeding bird "point counts" and have never recorded the species in June or July at Chatfield.
Interesting. Related to draught in the mountains or ...?
Has anyone else seen or heard Brewer's Sparrows outside their traditional breeding areas?
