Arapahoe County:
--A TRICOLORED HERON was reported by Levison in Cottonwood wetlands at Cherry Creek SP on April 20.  It was near the bank of Cottonwood Creek visible from the path heading east before wooden foot bridge.
--A LAUGHING GULL was reported by  Bunker at Cherry Creek Marina on April 20.

Archuleta County:
--A pair of Black Phoebes were reported by Morris in the Watchable Wildlife Area near Piedra Bridge on April 21.

Baca County:
--4 Eastern Phoebes were reported by Kaempfer in Cottonwood Canyon on April 21.

Bent County:
--At Tempel Grove on April 18, Duane Nelson reported a singing male Northern Parula and a vocal White-eyed Vireo.  Nelson also reported that a pair of Eastern Phoebes is nesting under the bridge at Tempel Grove.  On April 21, Chartier reported Eastern Phoebe and Hooded Warbler at Tempel Grove.
-At John Martin on April 18, Nelson reported a breeding plumaged Pacific Loon, a 2-nd winter GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL on the north side, and 6 Piping Plovers have returned in areas protected by closures.
--3 Calling Black Rails were reported by Kaempfer at Ft Lyon on April 21.
--A Northern Parula was reported by Luck at John Martin SP Campground on April 22.

Boulder County:
--A singing Black-and-White Warbler was reported by Floyd at Greenlee Preserve on April 17 and was refound by Hansley on April 18.
--At Golden Ponds in Longmont on April 19, Mlodinow reported a Northern Parula at the eastern edge of the eastern pond and a Broad-winged Hawk circling above.
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Tumasonis in the Gunbarrel area on the Lobo Trail system on April 22.

Clear Creek County:
--A male Indigo  Bunting was reported by Mlodinow on April 22 in Georgetown at 8th and Rose where the Rufous-collared Sparrow was seen last year.

Denver County:
--A RED-THROATED LOON was reported by Kibbe at Marston Reservoir on April 18.  It was visible from S Wadsworth extension on the western side of the reservoir.  On April 19 Roller refound the RED-THROATED LOON seen from south side.

Douglas/Jefferson Counties:
--On April 16, Kibbe reported that both pairs of Eastern Phoebes at Chatfield continued and appeared to have build nests.
One pair is at Plum Creek at Phoebe Bridge and the other pair is at Kingfisher Bridge. 

Eagle County:
--10 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Filby at Spring Park Reservoir on April 20.  On April 22 Filby reported 3 Barrow's Goldeneyes.
--A singing Fox Sparrow was reported by Filby at Spring Park Reservoir on April 23.  It was heard in the creek.

El Paso County:
--A Green Heron was reported by Kosar at Fountain Creek RP on April 21.  On April 21, Pals reported Harris's Sparrow and Green Heron at Fountain Creek RP.

El Paso/Pueblo Counties:
Chico Basin Ranch which is a fee area.
--A Black-and-white Warbler was reported by Brown near the banding station (El Paso) on April 22.
--A Northern Parula was reported by Percival at Rose Pond (Pueblo) on April 23.
--A KENTUCKY WARBLER was reported by Percival in Headquarters Willows on April 23.

Jackson County:
--A White-throated Sparrow continues at Moose Visitor Center at least through April 22 as reported by Nuissl.

Jefferson County:
--A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Slingsby at the Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch on April 17.  On April 18, Hyypio reported 5 Broad-winged Hawks at the Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch.  On April 19, Rouch reported 1 Broad-winged Hawk at the Hawk Watch.
On April 23, Rouch reported 2 Broad-winged Hawks at the Hawk Watch.

Las Animas County:
--A Hooded Warbler was reported by Deininger in willows next to the Parking Lot of Long's Canyon on April 21.

Mesa County:
--A singing BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW was reported by Arnold in Devils Kitchen in Colorado National Monument on April 9.  Arnold refound the BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW on April 12 with possibly a second bird.  On April 14, Dodson refound BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW and possibly a second bird.  Larry and Missy Arnold refound  BLACK-CHINNED SPARROWS on April 19.
Missy saw two BLACK-CHINNED SPARROWS.
--A winter Wren was reported by Mlodinow on the south side of CR 141 at mile marker 143 on April 21.
--A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Mlodinow at Highline Lake SP on April 21.

Montrose County:
--A Black Phoebe was reported by Horn along the San Miguel River between Uravan and the confluence of the Dolores River on April 15.  On April 16, Dexter reported a dozen Black Phoebes along the San Miguel between Uravan and Nucla.
--On April 19 NW of Nucla, Dexter reported a new nest site for Black Phoebe and a singing Black-throated Gray Warbler.
--On April 20, Dexter reported that a few of the Black Phoebes along the San Miguel are on nest and several Black-throated Gray Warblers were singing.

Montezuma County:
--A Greater Roadrunner was reported by Meyer in the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument which is west of Cortez on April 16.  The bird was 3.57 miles in from the Sand Canyon Trailhead on Rock Creek.
--A probable YELLOW-FOOTED GULL was found by Riley and Heather Morris at Totten Reservoir near Cortez on April 22.  This would be a new state record if confirmed.

Otero County:
--Snowy Plovers were reported by Kaempfer at Lake Cheraw on April 22.

Pueblo County:
--A singing Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Percival at Osprey Picnic Area in Rock Canyon below Pueblo Reservoir Dam on April 16.
--A singing Worm-eating Warbler was reported by Percival along the Frisbee Golf Course Creek (west side) in Pueblo City Park on April 21.

Upcoming DFO Field Trips:

The DFO field trip for Saturday, April 28 will be to the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt led by Chishun Kwong (303-709-6097 or chisunkwong At yahoo.com).  Meet the leader at 0700 at Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge.  From I-70 exit 267, take Kipling south about 3/4 of a mile and turn right on 44th Ave.  Go one mile west.  Look for the entrance to Prospect Park on your left.  Park in the lot near Clear Creek.  Will bird along Clear Creek and visit Tabor lake for early spring migrants.  Walk will include the dirt paths in the wetland south of the creek and may involve about 3 miles of walking.  Telescope and radio are not necessary but you may want a telescope for the lakes only.

The DFO field trip for Sunday, April 29 will be to Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch led by Tim Smart (smrr AT juno.com).  Meet the leader at 0800 at the Hawk Watch.  Trip runs until mid-day.  Directions:  From I-70 exit 259 (Morrison exit), head south a short distance on CO 26 and turn left (east into a Park-n'-Ride parking lot ( the "Stegosaurus" lot).  Follow the steep and sometimes muddy trail through a gate and switchbacks up to the top of the ridge.  At the top of the ridge turn left, and go through the gate
