[cobirds] RMBO banding at Chico Basin Ranch 4/23

Hi COBirders,

Banding report from CBR for Monday:

Very slow start, some activity around 8:30. and a few warblers high in the trees, but action started about 10am when the sparrows moved up into the woods to get out of the heat. Total new banded birds today - 49. Pretty good for a first banding day in April!

Banded today:

Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Hermit Thrush
Am Robin 3
Brown Thrasher
Orange-crowned Warbler f
Myrtle/Yellow-rumped Warbler f
Green-tailed Towhee
Chipping Sparrow 28
Gambel's White-crowned Sparrow 11
Am Goldfinch f

and several robins, thrashers, house wren that were banded in previous seasons - don't know the stories yet.

Also seen around the grove (El Paso County): Black-throated Gray Warbler m, asstd Yellow-rumped Warblers, Ladder-backed Woodpecker,
Not re-found - Blackpoll Warbler m from yesterday, nor Long-eared Owl, (nor Lucy's, or Hooded Warblers from Friday)

See other posts for great finds in Pueblo County at the HQ area.

Also note: the grove has an electric fence around it to keep out the cattle currently in the section. You are allowed access, just use one of the handles to enter the enclosure without touching the electrified wire.

Good birding,

Steve Brown (volunteer)
