Yesterday, on one of my semi-regular visits to Crown Hill Park, waiting for Yellow-headed Blackbirds to return to the sanctuary area (they still haven't), I saw either three Virginia Rails, or one Virginia Rail three times. I'd been hearing them in the cat-tails for a week or two, and finally got lucky enough to catch them active. They're right off the new boardwalk deck on the East side. Also a pair of Tree Swallows investigating nest boxes, and one Black-crowned Night Heron.
