[cobirds] Me too (reporting of semi-rarities, even if on private property)

Hi, all.

I 100% agree with this:

> I agree with Dick, Steve, Tony, and others about posing
> migrant birds - even if they are technically not "rarities".
> But, I would like to encourage more people to post such
> sightings -- EVEN if they are found on private property --
> and even if they are not "chaseable" birds. No specific
> location needs to be disclosed -- the county of the sightings
> would be nice - but one can also just post the region (e.g.
> NE Colorado - PRIVATE PROPERTY). If such posts were more
> common, it would alert others to be on the lookout for
> similar migrants.

And I'd like to make a point that perhaps hasn't been stated explicitly. Many of us don't give an empid's whit about "chasing." But we love the great reports. I, personally, have never been to Chico Basin Ranch, I don't really picture myself ever going there, and I wouldn't in any sense enjoy "chasing" some rarity reported there. That said, I greatly enjoy all the excellent reports from Chico, whether of mega rarities or "just" stuff of local or seasonal interest. So please keep the reports coming: rarities, for sure; but also "FOS" sightings, observations of local interest, notable behaviors, even leps.

Speaking of which, Hannah and Andrew and I last night captured and released a stunning Parthenice Tiger Moth (Grammia parthenice, Hodges 8196) at Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County.

P.s. I don't want to give the impression that I'm above chasing. Case in point: The Georgetown, Clear Creek County, Rufous-collared Sparrow. And Indian Peafowl or Mandarin Duck anywhere in Colorado. It's just that my priorities are a bit different... ;)
