[cobirds] Spring Park resr, etc (Eagle County)

Hi all,

Denise and I enjoyed a splendid evening at Spring Park reservoir and Basalt Mountain.

As we left home, 4 adult Franklin’s Gulls flew low over the house, heading west down-valley,  a great sight!

At Spring Park, with no heatwaves, we were able to give everything a fairly good look with our scopes.

Good numbers and variety of ducks, plus many Western and Eared Grebes, as well as

3 Barrow’s Goldeneye

13 Franklin’s Gulls

1 Ring-billed Gull

1 (Long-billed) Dowitcher

13 American Avocets

3 Lesser Yellowlegs

4 Killdeer

As dusk approached we headed to Basalt mountain, where had 2 DUSKY GROUSE and a NORTHERN PYGMY OWL

No sign of any Flammulated Owls up there yet.

The setting new moon made for a wonderful vista as we headed back to the car.

Good birding all
