Yesterday evening produced species #150 for Manitou Lake in Teller County. [over my 24 years of birding the lake; not counting banding activity near the lake]. It’s a long way to 200 at this point. I remember wondering if I would ever reach 150.
A Cattle Egret, near full breeding plumage, was hanging out at the south end of the lake yesterday evening. At times perched on the boardwalk handrails.
Also FOS this year for the lake since Saturday: Eurasian Collared-Dove, Broad-tailed Hummingbird, Red-naped Sapsucker, Blue Jay, Tree Swallow, Myrtle Warbler, Spotted Towhee and Evening Grosbeak.
This is only the 2nd (first on 10/6/2009) sighting of a Blue Jay here by myself.
Complete list of sightings at Manitou Lake since Saturday below; followed by the checklist of all 150 species seen.
