[cobirds] Plum Creek, Chatfield

We did a mornings walk up Plum  Creek in Chatfield State Park on Apiril 24.  Some wild plum is in full bloom, some past, some haven't opened yet, depending on the elevation -sometimes as little as 3 feet difference.
Yellow-rumped Warblers, both Audubon's and Myrtle, were in the trees by the paved trail, spotted towhees singing on the hillside, redtailed and Swainson's hawks circling.  We also saw what appeared to
be a Cooper's hawk soaring above the cottonwood forest south of Turtle Pond.   Red-winged blackbirds are everywhere, great blue herons (2), kingfisher, mallards.  No northern yellowthroats or orioles yet.  A nice assortment
of birds, nothing really unusual, but spring is bringing them out.
Plum Creek has migrated across the floodplain and created a lovely set of various wetlands.  This area is being considered for mitigation work for the Chatfield Realloation project, and we are concerned that mitigation might
mess up the natural wetlands already in place.
