General location: South of Holly, Colorado in Prowers County.
Observers: Scott Dieni, Stephanie Jones.
Specific location: 0.84 mi south of the Arkansas River on Highway 89
(@.25 mi north of the intersection with CR DD). The bird was perched
on the first power line pole on the east side of the highway, across
from the abandoned house.
UTM: Zone 13S 752921 E 4213149 N.
Description: Adult. Chocolate body feathers, white rump, yellow
cere, unfeathered tarsus, chestnut shoulder.
Behavior: Perched high on a power line pole, then flew due east upon
our approach.
