I went on saturday morning and afternoon to Westview middle school but the flycatcher was a no-show.
However as I was walking away I heard an interesting cooing from just over my head in a cottonwood. Saw 2 flickers and at first thought it was a parent and a juvenile; but they were the same size. As I watched, they did a courtship dance with heads weaving back and forth for a few seconds, pause, repeat. It was quite lovely.
