Hello,
Today on what I expected to be a quick visit to Centennial Park, a birding extravaganza ensued and I spent over 2 hours observing many FOY species. Over 100 Tree Swallows darting about above the lake was quite spectacular, my ebird estimate was 110 but I believe there were undoubtedly more. All species observed:
41 Canada Goose
2 Gadwall
7 Mallard
4 Bufflehead
1 Pied-billed Grebe
5 Double-crested Cormorant
1 Black-crowned Night-Heron (adult)
17 American Coot
1 Ring-billed Gull
1 Northern Flicker (Red-shafted)
1 Say's Phoebe (FOY)
6 American Crow
110 Tree Swallow (FOY)
1 Barn Swallow (FOY)
1 Black-capped Chickadee
37 American Robin
900 Common Starling
16 Red-winged Blackbird
1 Yellow-headed Blackbird (FOY)
2 Common Grackle
You just never know what species will be present!
Happy Birding,
Art Hudak
Denver County
